Within the MIMESIS project, an intensive training course on Finite element simulation of multi-field problems took place during the month May, June and July 2016. All Early Stage Researchers spent three month at Weierstrass Institute, Berlin. In addition, during these three month, soft-skill seminars on Time- and Self-management and Presentation skills training took place to provide an interdisciplinary and inter-sectorial training opportunity within the European Industrial Doctorate project.
At the end of the intense course on more or less theoretic aspects of mathematical simulations of multi-field problems, also practical aspects should not stand in background. Therefore, a visit to the “Stiftung Institut für Werkstoffkunde Bremen (IWT)“, Institute for Material Science, has been made. Dr. A. Schulz gave a nice overview on the interdisciplinary research institute and their work on materials science, process engineering, and manufacturing technologies.
Special interest was of course paid to the multi-frequency induction hardening equipment at IWT.
